Carolyn Wonderland
Austin blues darling Carolyn Wonderland knocks out crowds from the tiniest bars to Cleveland’s State Theater, where she tore the house down as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum’s 2009 American Music Masters tribute to Janis Joplin! Wonderland’s performance was so compelling, it broke open the mid-Atlantic market for her, according to Rock Hall president and CEO Terry Stewart. Her Joplin-esque voice and wicked guitar chops give her membership in a small sorority of triple-threat female blues artists ... and, in addition to guitar, lapsteel and mandolin, she also plays trumpet and piano!
Her recent release, Miss Understood, widely hailed, and included in the top-10 lists of many music pundits, earned her an Austin City Limits taping, not to mention kudos as Best Female Vocalist at the 2009 Austin Music Awards. Wonderland is a featured player on over 30 recordings by other world-class artists. She also plays lead guitar in Austin's all-grrl Southern-rock supergroup, Sis Deville. ... And Bob Dylan is a fan!"

I've seen Carolyn several times in and around the Austin area. I think ACL got it right ... She's SRV and Janis all rolled into one spectacular musical package !!!
Hal Achee , about 1 year agoShe is definitely underrated - very soulful.
Cityism , about 1 year agoIf you've ever wondered what it would be like to see Joplin and Stevie Ray Vaughn on stage at the same time, go see Carolyn Wonderland. She has the most soulfull voice and unbelievable chops on the strat. I live in Austin, and I see her whenever I can. She will blow you away.
