There is something to be said for working at an art and earning your way to success. Frank Turner understands this ethic, as his nearly decade-long career in music has shown. Turner started out in London’s indie punk band Million Dead, but two albums and four years down the road, the group split up to pursue other projects. Turner turned to punk-tinged folk on his own, and got the word out the old-fashioned way, touring for over a year and playing whatever venues he could to spread the word about his music. Word spread far enough for Turner to put out his solo debut, Sleep is for the Week, on Xtra Mile in 2007, and follow-up Love Ire & Song in 2008. Since then, Turner has toured with the likes of Flogging Molly, Chuck Ragan and the Gaslight Anthem, and released his third record, Poetry of the Deed, late last year. TWEETS
