Kinky
When Anglo audiences started getting hip to Latin music in a big way early in the decade, Kinky was one of the bands everyone talked about. Hailing from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, the Latin alternative quintet fuses funk, rock, electronica and dance music into an energetic sound that works especially well live (including at Coachella and other festivals). Massively popular songs like “Más” and “Uruapan Breaks” also show up frequently in commercials, TV shows and films, and their song, “We Are the Galaxy,” is the official song of the Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer team. Their first album, 2002’s Kinky, was produced by Chris Allison (Coldplay, Beta Band). Their latest album, Barracuda, was released in 2009. TWEETS
